ThaiSim 2010 - 2nd
conference
Learning from experience
through games and simulations
Proposals
We hope that you will run a session at the conference. We will have
three main types of session, as follows:
Paper presentations – 35m
These are the standard session at ThaiSim. The
session length is 35 minutes. Your actual paper should be about 20
minutes (maximum). This will allow the audience opportunity for commentary
and questions in the remaining 15 minutes.
Short workshops (hands-on)
sessions – 80m (1hr, 20m)
These are important sessions in a conference on games, simulations,
experiential and hands-on learning. These sessions must be activity-based
and involve participation from the audience. The session must not be
used simply to allow yourself a long paper. These sessions must contain
a substantial portion of hands-on, participation in a
simulation, game or experiential exercise, followed by debriefing and then
discussion of the simulation/game.
Poster sessions
You may prefer to present you work in the form of a poster. This type
of session is flexible, and you can put almost anything in your poster, but
make sure that you follow the guidelines.
- Before sending in your proposal it is important to get the
ThaiSim
conference proposal guidelines. (To download the pdf file,
right click on the link, and then "save as".)
Follow the guidelines carefully, as they will
tell you how to do your proposal so that it has the maximum chance of being
accepted.
Accepted sessions
- A list of already accepted sessions are posted on the
programme page.
Equipment
- The usual equipment will be available at the conference centre. This
includes: screen, OHP, LCD, computer, Microsoft or Apple Macintosh (or other),
Internet access in the room, printing, limited paying photocopying facilities.
However, please check with the conference organizer for precise details:
Dr Ajarn Suwat -
- You are advised to to check your computer connection before your session.
Also to check that your USB drive (flash drive, pen drive, handy drive, clef
USB, memory stick, thumb drive, jump drive, etc). works in the conference
computer. You should have the correct format for your ppt file. We
advise that you save it, with special fonts embedded, and in PowerPoint 2003,
ie, .ppt, not .pptx.

Proceedings
All papers, and papers derived from workshops and posters, can be submitted
for publication in the proceedings. The selected papers will be published
in the CD proceedings.
To prepare your paper, please follow the instructions in the
ThaiSim
